A Unadilla Township home was destroyed Thursday in the county's second major house fire this week. Flames were visible from the roof of a home on the 1900 block of Bridgets Way around 11 a.m. when crews were called. The home appears to be a total loss. Firefighters from 11 fire departments battled the heavy blaze. Unadilla Township Police Chief David Russell said the homeowners were not inside when the fire started, but two dogs were. Both dogs were found safe hours after the fire started. Russell said the cause of the fire is still unknown. He said the fire was extinguished before 3 p.m. but crews will be on scene doing cleanup into the evening.
