Lake County is saying goodbye to a beloved member of the community. Yates Township Fire Chief John Barnette passed away yesterday according to the sheriff’s office. Barnette was the township’s zoning administrator since 2005. He had also previously served as the president of the Lake County Firefighters Association. The sheriff’s office says he was a long-time community leader, friend and mentor.
