Home from work and watching TV, a Bangor Township man said he was in total shock when a good Samaritan alerted him to his house — what his wife described as their forever home — being on fire. Mike Sayers said he had arrived at his home at 4064 Dover Lane about 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 20. Having showered and eaten some lunch, he was watching TV when he heard some unexpected knocking at his door. “Some guy’s pounding on my door,” he said. “I’m like, ‘What the heck is going on?’ [He said] ‘Your house is on fire.’ I’m like, ‘What?’ I ran out and, sure enough, it was on fire.” Sayers ran back inside and grabbed a handful of his and his wife’s clothes. He then went back outside and moved their vehicles and boat out of the driveway. His wife, Diana Sayers, said she and her two sons had been camping in Arenac County and were on their way home when her husband called her to inform her of the blaze.
