The 7-year-old boy struck and killed while riding his bike with his father has been identified as Ryan Marsman. At the intersection where Marsman was killed Thursday evening, flowers and balloons were placed in his memory. Marsman was riding bikes with his father on a bike trail along Cascade Road when they came to an intersection at Laraway Lake Drive around 6 p.m. Thursday, June 14, according to the Kent County Sheriff’s Office. The pair stopped at the intersection before crossing Laraway, according to the sheriff’s office. As they attempted to cross, a truck driven by a 22-year-old Ottawa County man struck the child. The father was not injured. AeroMed was dispatched to the scene but first responders were unable to revive the boy. The boy was wearing a helmet when he was hit. Deputies say the Ottawa County man was turning right on Cascade from Laraway.
