About 15 full storage units were damaged in a large fire Sunday afternoon at a Pittsfield Township self-storage lot. Fire crews responded to Five Star Storage, 3060 Lohr Circle, just before 11 a.m. June 23, after a passerby saw black smoke coming from several storage units and called 911, according to the Pittsfield Township Fire Department. Crews arrived to find one of the storage buildings, which contained 30 locked storage units, had heavy smoke pouring out it and attempted to prevent the fire from spreading, officials said. Firefighters forced open several locked units to battle the blaze which ended up damaging about half the units. The other half was mostly saved, officials said. One firefighter was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
