When the city decided it was going to organize its own fire department, Thomas
Wieczorek, director of the Center for Public Safety Management (CPSM) said he was certain it would take at least one year to get the necessary equipment – but to his surprise it was done in a matter of weeks.
In fact, Wieczorek said he is pleased to report the city if nearly two years ahead of where he thought it would be in the formation of its new fire department.
“We’re trying to stay ahead of you, we send recommendations and its done before we get back into a report,” he said. “You are a year to a year-and-a half ahead of where we thought you’d be.”
