Two Port Huron homes on the St. Clair River were damaged by an early morning fire on Tuesday.
Port Huron Fire Battalion Chief James Hayes said the fire was reported about 1 a.m. on the 2400 block of Military Street.
When the fire department arrived there was heavy fire in the rear of a two-story home. Firefighters worked to protect a nearby three-story home, but it caught fire about 25 minutes after the department arrived, he said.
Everyone was out of the homes when the department arrived, Hayes said.
Hayes said the fire was out within 90 minutes of the department arriving. He said he wasn’t sure on the exact damage, but the first home is “pretty much a total loss” and the second home is a partial loss.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
