It’s difficult for Trenton Fire Chief Dean Creech to shake the feeling of frustration when there is a house fire with a significant loss — and there are no working smoke detectors to be found. With the investment residents put into their homes, Creech said everyone should have working smoke detectors. The department is always looking for grants and other programs that allow them to get more detectors into houses to help prevent loss of life and property. Help came recently from a Southgate home improvement store. “Lowe’s does a good amount of giving back to the community,” Creech said. ”They donated 100 smoke detectors. I don’t know how much each costs, but the donation has to be about a couple of thousand dollars.”
