An adult and child have died following a fire Saturday at the same house where a 2019 double-homicide occurred. The fire happened about 9 a.m. at 553 Sheldon Ave. SE. Grand Rapids Assistant Fire Chief Brad Brown said firefighters pulled two people from the house. One of the people, a woman, died at the scene. The other, a young boy, died later at DeVos Children’s Hospital. The house was the scene of a double-homicide in March 2019 and police are still looking for a suspect wanted for murder. Cherletta Baber-Bey, 45, and and her niece, Keyona Griffin, 25, died of gunshot wounds inside the house. Police are still looking for Derrell Demon Brown, 45, who lived with them, and Kent County prosecutors have issued warrants for open murder against him.
