Retired Bedford Fire Chief Ronald A. Whipple and a Lambertville mother of four children were killed in a multiple vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon. The mother was identified as Tiffany P. Kidd, 40. Her four children, including 7-year-old twins, were in the minivan and survived. They were listed in stable condition in area hospitals. An elderly couple also were injured in the accident on Sterns Rd. between Summerfield and Secor Roads. The man was in critical condition and his wife remained in stable condition this morning. Sgt. Daniel Zdybek of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office reported the accident occurred around 3 p.m. when Whipple, driving a 2020 Chevrolet pickup truck, was headed west on Sterns. Zdybek said Whipple went to pass a slower vehicle and struck three eastbound vehicles.
