A man who police say lit up to 13 fires along the Clio Bike Path in Vienna Township over the past three months is facing faces three felony counts of arson.
Derek Foster, 30, was arraigned on three felony counts of fourth-degree arson Wednesday, May 20, according to court documents.
The Clio Area Fire Department responded to 12 fires along the bike path between March 9 and May 11, Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson said during a Wednesday, May 27 news conference. Officials with the Clio Fire Department deemed the fires suspicious. A fire was reported Monday, May 11, near Dead Man’s Hill located behind the Clio Plaza in Vienna Township.
Members of the Clio Fire Department, Clio Police Department and Genesee County Sheriff’s Office surveyed the area and identified Foster riding a bike away from the scene.
