One person has died in a Jackson house fire Thursday afternoon.
The Jackson Fire Department responded to the fire around 3 p.m., Nov. 19, in the 100 block of N. Horton Street. When crews arrived, flames were showing from the rear of the house, Jackson Fire Chief Dave Wooden said.
Firefighters immediately entered the house because they were told someone was still inside the house, but the fire was too intense to save the victim, Wooden said. The person’s age and gender are unknown at this time, Wooden said. One other occupant in the house made it out, Wooden said. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Michigan State Police will assist with the investigation.
The Blackman-Leoni Department of Public Safety, Summit Township Fire Department, Henrietta Township Fire Department, Jackson Police Department and Jackson Community Ambulance assisted at the scene.
