Blissfield Fire Captain Joseph Todd Gallo had a passion for fire services and was a man his fellow firefighters said they knew always had their backs. “He was always ‘that guy,’ the one you knew you could count on,” Blissfield Township Fire Chief Dale Fruchey said. Gallo, 34, of Blissfield, died Nov. 17, from injuries suffered in a rollover crash on Garno Road in Lenawee County’s Deerfield Township, according to the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office. “He had a passion for the fire service. He was probably one of the most passionate firefighters I’ve known in a long time,” Madison Township Fire Chief Ryan Rank said. When he wasn’t putting out fires and saving lives, Gallo would spend his free time restoring old fire trucks as a member of the Michigan Antique Emergency Vehicle Club.
