An early-morning house fire in the small Saginaw County village of Oakley has claimed the life of a 72-year-old man. About 5:43 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 24, Saginaw County sheriff’s deputies and Chesaning-Brady firefighters responded to a reported house fire at 400 Bockee Street. Firefighters found resident Lewis Patterson inside the house and pulled him from it, but he was pronounced deceased at the scene. Patterson was the sole resident of the house. Investigators have determined the fire began on the west side of the house. The cause remains under investigation by the Michigan State Police Fire Investigation Unit.
