Mt. Pleasant firefighters responded to 947 calls last year, including more than 200 medical runs. In providing city commissioners with an overview of the year at Monday's regular meeting, Mt. Pleasant Fire Chief Rick Beltinck said that his department responded to 584 calls in Mt. Pleasant, 355 in Union Township and eight mutual aids. Mt. Pleasant has mutual aid agreement with 12 fire departments in Isabella County, and covers Union Township. Included in those calls for service were 81 fires - 21 structures, 16 vehicles, 12 brush, six garbage containers and 24 others, Beltinck said. Automobile accidents - with and without injury, those involving pedestrians, and extrications, accounted for 122 of the department's calls last year, Beltinck said.
