All occupants of a Northside home were able to safely self-evacuate prior to the arrival of first responders after the home caught fire Monday morning.
Kalamazoo Public Safety officers responded to the fire, in the 1300 block of North Church Street, at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 14, according to a news release from the department.
When officers arrived, smoke was observed coming from the eaves of the home, the release states. Officers entered the residence and located fire in a second-floor bedroom and in the attic. Officers were on scene for over an hour while bringing the fire under control, the release states.
The cause of the fire is not yet known and is under investigation by the fire marshal’s office.
