A fire in Marquette Tuesday evening sent one person to the hospital for burns. At 6:46 p.m., the Marquette City Fire Department responded to a fire in a detached garage at 326 Summit St., on the corner of Summit and Fitch Ave. Ten firefighters were able to knock down the fire with 20 minutes and spent about an hour on scene. Firefighters say the one man inside the garage was sent to UP Health System-Marquette for burns to his face, chest and neck. The Marquette City Fire Department did not have an update on the man’s condition as of 10:00 a.m. Wednesday. Damage to the garage was contained to the front interior. The cost of the damage is undetermined. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The Marquette City Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Marquette City Police Department and UP Health System EMS.
