A Sunday morning house fire in Ypsilanti Townsip displaced one man, officials said.
Firefighters responded to the fire at 9:43 a.m., Feb. 21 in the 1000 block of Desoto Avenue in the West Willow neighborhood of the township, said the Ypsilanti Township Fire Department.
The man who lived in the home was not present at the time of the incident, officials said, so nobody suffered any injuries. The American Red Cross is finding temporary lodging for the homeowner, officials said. Firefighters arrived on scene to find heavy smoke and put out the fire within 10 minutes, officials said. The home is not a total loss, but it sustained about $75,000 of damage, officials said.
Ypsilanti Township Fire Department was assisted by the Superior Township and Ypsilanti fire departments. The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Department assisted with traffic around the incident, while Huron Valley Ambulance was also present.
