Firefighters snuffed out a first-floor apartment fire Monday afternoon in the city’s Milwood neighborhood.
Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers responded to the call in the 1700 block of East Cork Street at around 2:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 18, according to a news release from the department.
Officers arrived to find smoke coming from the main floor of the multi-story residential building. After locating the fire in a first-floor apartment, KDPS responders said they were able to bring the fire under control within 30 minutes.
The occupants were not home at the time of the incident and no other tenants were injured, the release states. The cause of the fire is not yet known and is under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s office.
