Two young children were killed and another has been airlifted to the hospital after an Amish buggy was hit by a vehicle in Northern Michigan. According to the Wexford County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred at the intersection of E. 16 Road and N. 39 Road in Cedar Creek Township at 8:15 a.m. on Monday. Deputies say the buggy occupied by children ages 11, 9 and 7 passed into the intersection in front of a vehicle driven by a 48-year-old Manton man that was traveling on E. 16 Road. All three children were ejected from the buggy. An 11-year-old female and 7-year-old male suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. A 9-year-old female was airlifted to Devos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids with serious injuries, deputies said. The Manton man and his three passengers were not injured. Deputies did not say if the horse pulling the buggy was injured. The names of the victims will not be released by police, according to a news release.
