VIDEO/PHOTO: The Argentine Township Fire and Rescue Department in Linden has received grant funding for critical equipment upgrades. Fire officials said the funding will go toward a new tanker, replacing one from 1981. “Just in Argentine Township we have about 7,000 residents, but we respond mutually to Burns Township, Hartland Deerfield, Gaines, Linden. So, a lot of communities are involved with us,” said Argentine Township Fire Capt. Kyle Kurtz. Congressman Dan Kildee made the announcement on Tuesday, Sept. 3 that the fire department was awarded more than $476,000 by the Assistance to Firefighters Grant program, which is through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Like other local fire departments, Kurtz said Argentine Township faces challenges with staffing shortages, but the new tanker will alleviate some of that stress.
