VIDEO/PHOTOS: Berrien County first responders have a new way to manage accidents involving livestock and animals stuck on roadways.
"When accidents happen, it's a crazy event, but imagine those accidents happening with a trailer full of animals that may be heading to a recreation going trail riding, or to a show where youth are going to show them or even to one of our processing plants," Michigan State University Extension teacher Beth Ferry said.
ERAIL Trailers are specifically meant to handle livestock accidents, and any other instances of livestock on the roadway.
That could range from a trailer carrying horses crashing, to an animal stuck in a drainage ditch or wandering onto the road.
Beth Ferry, a teacher with the Michigan State University Extension says the goal is make sure first responders are prepared for any situation.
