Most of a storage building was destroyed in an early morning blaze Friday, April 12. The west end of building on the 1400 block of Eighth Street Northeast in Staples was engulfed in flames when the Wadena County Sheriff's Office and Staples Police Department responded after the call at 3:06 a.m. The fire had spread to most of the building by the time the Staples Fire Department arrived. Firefighters quickly brought the flames under control, a news release stated. Some contents in the east end of the storage building were saved, while the rest of the building and contents were a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Wadena County Sheriff's Office, Staples Police Department and Minnesota State Fire Marshal's Office.
