VIDEO: On Wednesday the Austin Fire Department began their annual drive to fill the boot. “It’s one of the traditions that the fire service has been involved in for a long time. It’s just a great cause.” Said firefighter/engineer Jim Halsey with the Austin Fire Department. This marks the 65th year of firefighters across the nation joining together to help raise funds to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Members from the Austin Fire Department are heading out into the community with boots in hand to help spread awareness. “We don’t have to really work hard. We just get out there and the community does the rest.” Halsey said.
