The Duluth Fire Department has promoted Sandy McComb as the next fire marshal.
McComb is the second female to join the Duluth Fire Department(DFD) leadership team, the most that the department has had in its history.
McComb was promoted from Deputy Fire Marshal, a position she served since 2015. She was initially hired with the Duluth Fire Department as a firefighter and then served as a fire equipment operator. McComb has been with the DFD for 22 years.
“The best part of my job is getting to help people,” McComb said. “ From being on the rigs to conducting fire investigations, getting to interact with elementary students to teach them fire prevention, I love being able to reach people through the work that we do in hopes of preventing fires.”
McComb has been interim fire marshal for some months now. Fire Chief Shawn Krizaj said she's done a great job at it.
