A weekend fire at a restaurant in St. Paul’s Highland Park left the kitchen significantly damaged, an investigator said Tuesday.
Firefighters were called at 2:57 a.m. Saturday to a report of flames coming from the roof of the Cleveland Wok on Cleveland Avenue near Ford Parkway. The fire began in the kitchen and some of it spread to the roof, said Capt. Joseph Blank, a St. Paul fire/arson investigator.
“Firefighters made a very quick attack on the fire and put it out relatively quickly, so we were lucky in that respect,” Blank said. No one was in the restaurant at the time, and the fire’s cause remains under investigation. It appears accidental and not suspicious, Blank said.
