New and improved are words that can be used to describe two of three fire halls in Hermantown. City officials and volunteer firefighters celebrated the opening Thursday, in conjunction with the city's 36th annual SummerFest. "The truth is that these important additions to our community are going to serve Hermantown for decades and add to the quality of our top-notch volunteer fire department," said John Mulder, Hermantown City Administrator. Fire Hall #2 was built in 1963, and is located at the corner of Stebner Road and Morris Thomas Road. Fire Hall #3 is on the corner of Midway Road an Rose Road. Both locations held dedication ceremonies, complete with a ribbon cutting and open house for the community to see where the volunteer firefighters spend their time away from work and family.
