A former fire and police chief of Hoyt Lakes was identified as the victim who was killed when he was pinned between a garbage truck, fence and dumpster in Biwabik, authorities said Tuesday. Steven Allen Stoks was 61. “The Hoyt Lakes Fire and Ambulance is mourning the loss of retired firefighter/former Chief Steven Stoks,” the department wrote on Facebook. “He served Hoyt Lakes and surrounding communities for 32+ years. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.” Stoks was found deceased just before 8:30 a.m. Monday in Biwabik. The Gilbert Police Department in a news release thanked “the citizens that assisted with the incident” but provided no other details. Biwabik is about 60 miles north of Duluth.
