All residents had safely evacuated the house when firefighters arrived. No injuries were reported at the scene and the American Red Cross is assisting the residents.
The fire was mostly contained to the basement area, with some extension to the first floor. The entire house received varying degrees of smoke damage. There was no cost estimate of the damage provided with the report. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Virginia, Eveleth, Mountain Iron, Hibbing, Gilbert and Fayal Township fire departments all responded to the scene.
