A victim died after a residential fire early Saturday morning in the North End neighborhood St. Paul, authorities said. The St. Paul Fire Department said crews responded to a report of a fire around 2:35 a.m. in a four-apartment residence on the 400 block of Front Avenue. When firefighters arrived on the scene, they saw smoke coming from the second floor of the building. Dispatch told crews an adult and possibly three children were trapped in an upper-floor unit, according to the fire report. Firefighters found one victim in the unit that was on fire, who was removed from the building and rushed to the hospital. After searching the structure, crews were unable to find any other victims. The victim was pronounced dead at the hospital. This was St. Paul's first fire fatality of 2020. No other injuries were reported.
