No injuries reported after Southwest Rochester house fire

A historic Southwest Rochester home was saved from significant damage late Thursday night after a home owner smelled smoke and called 911. The Rochester Fire Department was called toa residential structure fire in the 900 block of 11th Street Southwest about 11:20 p.m. Flames could be seen coming from the roof on the exterior of backside of the home, according to the a news release from the fire department. Firefighters used a hose line to attack the fire from the home's backyard and ventilation of the smoke was started to help limit interior smoke damage. Firefighters were able to quickly knock down the flames. The fire was determined to be confined to the area of origin.
