A two-vehicle collision Monday at the intersection of Jackson County Roads 29 and 34 in Alpha claimed the lives of two people. The Jackson County Sheriff's Office says a 2019 Peterbilt semi and bulk trailer driven by 23-year-old Landon Bell of Bryant, South Dakota was northbound on County Road 29. Deputies say a 2013 Dodge Ram pickup driven by 24-year-old Mitchell Jarmer of Westbrook, Minnesota was eastbound on County Road 34. Authorities say the semi failed to yield at a stop sign and the two vehicles collided in the intersection. Jarmer and a passenger, 26-year-old Jacob Peterson of Dovry, Minnesota, were both pronounced dead at the scene. No injuries were reported to Bell. The Alpha Fire Department and First Responders, Jackson Ambulance, Jackson Fire Department, Minnesota State Patrol and a towing service assisted on the scene. The collision took place around 1:30 pm.
