A Wichita man died when he tried to rescue a woman on a Missouri river.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says Jacob Farley, 26, drowned Friday while trying to rescue a woman near the Elk River Dam at Noel.
The patrol's report says the woman had been swept under water at the dam. Friends said Farley jumped into the river to try and rescue the stranger. He did save the woman by keeping her head above water. Noel firefighters were able to pull the woman to safety using a throw rope. Farley drowned during the rescue.
He leaves behind a 3-year-old son, Kingston, and funds with this GoFundMe will help cover funeral expenses and set up a trust for Kingston.
Funeral service for Farley will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, at Pathway Church, 2001 N Maize Rd.
