Cape Girardeau City Council Recognizes Assistant Fire Chief/Emergency Management Coordinator's Service, Retirement

Assistant Fire Chief/Emergency Management Coordinator Mark Hasheider received recognition of his recent retirement during the Nov. 4 City Council meeting. He is pictured with Mayor Bob Fox upon receiving a plaque commemorating his service. Hasheider started working with the Cape Girardeau Fire Department in February 1985, marking more than 34 years serving Cape Girardeau. He was promoted to Training Officer in 1989, was the department's 1995 Employee of the Year, and has served as Interim Chief three times. Hasheider has served as Emergency Management Coordinator since 1990 and Assistant Chief since 2001. He is also a recipient of the department's Gold Star of Valor and Gold Star of Merit. Special projects during his tenure have included radio interoperability, Project Impact, phone system upgrades, and more.
