The Smithville Area Fire Protection District said firefighters, police and emergency medical services responded to a “car driven through a house” Thursday afternoon in the 500 block of Shannon Ave. “The house suffered significant damage,” the Smithville Area Fire Protection District said in a social media post. “The car traveled through the garage door, out the back wall of the garage and struck an above ground pool in the backyard.” Police said the incident happened around 1 p.m. Thursday and the cause of the accident is not yet determined. Police said the driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital.
