Firefighters rescued two sisters who lost their way Sunday evening (Nov. 17) while hiking the Red Trail in Don Robinson State Park in Cedar Hill, said Chief Mick Fischer of the Cedar Hill Fire Protection District.
The women were not hurt, he said.
Fischer said the women were familiar with the trail but got lost after it started to rain, which created fog, and they could not see the trail anymore.
He said the women started hiking around 3:30 p.m., and Cedar Hill Fire got a call at 5:16 p.m. about the women being lost in the park.
Crews arrived on the scene at 5:23 p.m., Fischer said.
He said the 911 dispatcher used the GPS location from the cell phone used to make the call to find where the women were in the park.
Fischer said crews found the women at 5:55 p.m. and exited the woods with them at 6:24 p.m.
He said the women were able to walk out of the woods on their own.
