According to Ken Wilson, with the Brookline Fire, one woman was killed tonight, February 19, in a fire that started on the porch of the trailer she lived in at Alpine Village mobile home park. A person called in the fire to 911 when they saw it start on the porch but the home was completely engulfed by the time help arrived. The husband of the woman was also in the double-wide when the fire started but he was able to make it out safely. Chris Winter saw the husband and was able to help him escape. “Her husband was out here by his truck trying to honk the horn and when I stopped and asked if anybody else was in the house he tried running back inside then passed out,” Winter said. “Then I got him in my car and moved my car and then he said something about his wife. So I tried going back in twice and I couldn’t find anybody. And then I seen the oxygen tanks and I knew I had to get away.”
