A crew of eight smoke jumpers were flown into the Pryor Mountains south of Billings Wednesday to tackle a small wildfire.
The Bent Spring Fire was first reported Wednesday afternoon at one acre in size, but smoke from the blaze was visible from Billings to the north, and Wyoming to the south.
Officials with the Billings Interagency Dispatch Center told Q2 News the fire is about 40 miles south of Billings on National Forest Service Land.
In addition to the smoke jumpers, six fire engines and one helicopter have been assigned to the fire.
Officials said there are no major threats from the Bent Spring Fire early Wednesday evening, but they hope crews can step in before it grows.
The fire's cause is unknown.
