In a wildfire, embers can be carried more than a mile from the fire site and ignite fuels where they land. Increasing the odds that your home will survive a wildfire is something a homeowner could do in a weekend. MELT (Montana Elders for a Livable Tomorrow), working with MOLLI (Montana Osher Lifelong Learning Institute), neighborhoods and firefighters, is offering a program to show you ways to make your home safer in case of a wildfire. Renowned fire scientist Dr. Jack Cohen who worked at Missoula Fire Sciences Laboratory for two decades, will discuss his findings and recommendations — in person March 7 and 21, and by film March 11.
