A pair of quick-thinking Miles City police officers are being credited with saving lives during a fire at a Miles City trailer park last month.Officers Justin Qualley and Dustin Sloan were honored and received commendations at a Miles City Council meeting last week for their action during an early-morning blaze on Feb. 27.
According to the commendations read and presented by Miles City Police Chief Doug Colombik, the officers were the first to arrive at the scene, and helped parents remove their children and dogs from a burning trailer house.
The officers then went to an adjacent trailer that was being licked by the flames and woke the occupant, who was unaware that he was in danger.
“The occupant of the trailer stated to me that he had no clue that the fire was happening and that his smoke detectors did not go off in time and that he felt the officers saved his life by coming in and waking him up,” Colombik told the council.
