An initial investigation into a fatal structure fire in the Carbon County town of Bridger indicates the fire was accidental.
David Dyer, 67, died after a fire began in his kitchen Monday afternoon, according to a press release from Carbon County Sheriff Josh McQuillan. "Dyer was found unresponsive inside his residence by Bridger firemen within a few minutes after he had placed the 911 call reporting there was a fire in his kitchen," the release says.
Dyer was pronounced dead at the scene of the fire.
People from multiple agencies responded to the fire, including Bridger Fire, Bridger EMS, Bridger Police, the Montana State Fire Marshal and the Carbon County Sheriff's Office.
There was extensive smoke damage to the interior of the home on East Sunnyside Street. No one else was in the home at the time of the fire and no other injuries were reported, according to McQuillan.
