Three firefighters were injured when a fire truck overturned while responding to a call in Union County Friday afternoon.
The crash happened around 4:30 p.m. on the 2200 block of Wesley Chapel Road. Officials said firefighters in Engine 260 with the Wesley Chapel Fire Department were responding to a lightning strike call when the wreck occurred.
Two firefighters were transported to Novant Health in Matthews and one was taken to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. There is no word on the extent of those injuries, but officials said all three are expected to be OK.
According to the department's Facebook page, all members of Wesley Chapel Fire Department have been released from the hospital with only minor injuries and were at home resting as of 10 p.m. Friday.
The department expressed appreciation for thoughts, prayers, and support.
