A child sleeping at a home in Cary was jolted awake Monday night when a tree fell onto his bedroom during an outbreak of severe storms in the area. Cary firefighters say around 8 p.m. Monday, a large tree fell onto a family's home, landing in the bedroom of a child who was asleep. The incident happened in a neighborhood along Southeast Maynard Road causing "significant" damage to the home's second floor, Cary fire officials said. One person was treated at the scene for minor injuries, and the family of four inside was displaced from the home until repairs can be made.
