VIDEO: An emergency evacuation of about 120 Boy Scouts took place at a camp in Nash County Saturday afternoon. The only road into Camp Charles in Bailey was washed out by flooding, according to the father of a camper at the facility. Some campers earlier took small boats across a pond to evacuate the area, witnesses said. The Nash County Fire Marshal arrived at the scene and ordered the emergency evacuation. “Nothing was really going on. It was just normal rain. But then, randomly, it just picked up. Eventually, the road broke. It was all swept away. All the campfires down there are flooded, which is ironic because they’re campfires,” said Chris Johnson, a scout from Zebulon.
