Nine fire departments are battling a blaze at an auto salvage business in one Eastern Carolina county. Crews were called out to Foss Auto Salvage on Drummer Kellum Road outside of Jacksonville shortly after 4:00 p.m. Heavy smoke was visible and firefighters were using water tankers to help battle the fire. Onslow County Emergency Services Director Norman Bryson says as of 5:40 p.m. firefighters have not entered the building. He said they are working to contain the fire from the outside. One firefighter was taken to the hospital for heat exhaustion. Drummer Kellum Road and Ramsey Roads are closed, and Bryson says drivers should avoid the area.
