A woman escaped a fire at a home in west Charlotte Monday morning, according to the Charlotte Fire Department. Officials said the fire started around 10:30 a.m. at a home on Kendrick Drive off Tuckaseegee Road while a woman was still inside. She was able to get out safely, but flames ripped through the home, damaging several cars nearby. Channel 9 learned the woman will no longer be able to live in the home and some of her family's Christmas gifts were destroyed It's unclear what caused the fire at this point.
