The Charlotte Fire Department said a two-alarm fire that caused devastating damage to a south Charlotte home was set intentionally. Forty-five firefighters battled the massive blaze on Newberry Park Lane around 7 p.m. Saturday. Investigators said the fire was set on purpose by someone who threw a device at the home, causing flames to spark. Officials said when they arrived on the scene, heavy flames were engulfing the home and the fire took about 45 minutes to contain. "This a very small neighborhood, only 58 homes here, so we came outside to see what was going on,” said Glenn Ostle, who lives nearby.
