The victim of Saturday's fire in Fayetteville used an oxygen tank, according to a relative, which officials believe may have played a role in the fatality.
Four stations responded to a call at 9:30 p.m., including the Cumberland Road Fire Department. When fire officials arrived on the scene, they reported smoke coming from inside and heard there may be somebody in the home.
"It's a death investigation right now," Sean Swain, spokesperson for the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office, said. "We looked into the arson aspect of it initially and it does not appear that it was an intentional fire."
Once the firefighters put out the fire, they discovered the victim of the fire on a hospital bed in one of the back rooms of the home.
