Four first responders were honored Monday during a Statesville City Council meeting. Lt. Anthony Armstrong and firefighters Isaac McCurdy, Joshua Brouse and Brett York stood in front of the Council as Statesville Fire Chief Spencer Lee recounted the incident for which they were being recognized. On May 28, the Statesville Fire Department responded to a report of an unconscious person in the 200 block of Marjorie Road, Lee said. He said firefighters assisted EMS, including administering six shocks via a defibrillator and roughly 3,000 chest compressions. The patient regained a heartbeat due to these measures and was taken to Iredell Memorial Hospital; the patient was later transported to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, Lee added.
