Hickory Fire Department has new inspector

Chad Houston has been hired as a fire inspector for the Hickory Fire Department. He began his career in 2000 as a volunteer firefighter with Icard Township Fire Department, where he still remains as a volunteer. In 2003, he began working full-time for the Long View Fire Department. In 2013 he was hired at Burke County Fire Marshal’s office as a fire inspector. Houston attended Coastal Carolina Community College and graduated with an Associate degree in Fire Protection Technology. He has received certifications and training in both firefighting and inspections including: Inspector level III, Fire Instructor II, Educator III, Juvenile Fire Setter II, Fire Officer II, Certified Fire Investigator, Firefighter, Driver Operator, and Emergency Medical Technician.
